A goldendoodle is a breed of dog that is considered to be the lovable type. This is a breed combining two breeds, the golden retriever and the poodle. This breed is known on being the non aggressive, intelligent, friendly, trainable, extremely intuitive, and sociable type. Their characteristics as being intelligent and trainable are reasons for them to be considered as service, guide, and therapy dogs. So may be you start to wonder about the difference of therapy dog and service dog.

Therapy dogs are trained for them to provide comfort and affection to those people in the hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, retirement homes, disaster areas, schools, and people who are having autism spectrum. These types cannot be called as the service dog, but these may become one if they are trained properly for that purpose. While the service dog is trained to perform some tasks and help the disabled people. In this article, things to consider when selecting goldendoodles for service and therapy dogs will be given.

Usually, what comes to the mind of most people is that these types of animals are good for those who are visually impaired. But in the recent years, their uses have expanded into many other areas already. And today as an addition to visually impaired, other uses are for assisting people with disabilities, with anxiety orders, with diabetes, and with autism.

There are a lot of benefits in getting these animals, especially for some of your friends and families who have autism. These benefits are proven to be very remarkable. They can assist them from the completion of their daily tasks up to the prevention of some actions that they may possibly do when they feel like being in their overwhelming situations. The following are the things to consider importantly.

First are some sensory issues. These animal types have been trained for aiding the children having autism, specifically on sensory issues. So if the child is overwhelmed like in crowded places or noisy stores, this dog may let him or her calm down.

But aside from the sensory issues, there are some other factors that need to be reviewed and take into consideration. First is thinking whether the child has a sensitive skin when holding some rough textures or surfaces like animal furs. Second is thinking whether the child is sensitive to loud noises, thus, minimizing the barks during the training is important.

Second, the cost. These types can be quite expensive due to the some trainings that would prepare them for working. Some useful ways for this is try to approach some friends and families for donations or may organize events for fund raising. You may approach some organizations to help on this.

Third is knowing what the specific needs of a child are. You must know the specific needs that the child will need so the training will be addressed to that need. Know also the specific trainings for the dog.

And fourth is the home prep. These animals can be considered as super heroes. But still they are dogs and in your homes, you may have to clean and remove the dirt and odor for the protection of your family from the allergies. Also, you will need to buy food for them and pay for the vet. So you must prepare the home because you will really be affected by it.
