A Brief History Of Blue French Bulldog Puppies

By Kathleen Jackson

While most every child wants a pet, it is important to understand the life span and traits of a breed before obtaining a puppy. For example, rare Blue French Bulldog puppies only have a life span of 8 to 10 years. As such, these dogs are better suited to adults than children.

The breed originates from France and has very specific traits related to habits and size. With a life span of only 8-10 years, the breed is often better for adult owners than children. The temperament of the breed is often calm though when excited can often drool whether in private or public space. As such, it is often advised that owners always carry a special rag or tissue to take care of the problem, especially when visiting others or participating in public events.

Often known as Frenchie, for short, the breed originates from France. When looking at breed recognition, it is known as a non-sporting breed. Although, unlike all dogs, if obtaining as a pet, it is often preferred the owners have a dog neutered or spayed when at the appropriate age to do so.

In most cases, these beautiful young puppies grow into companions, most often for the elderly. A smaller version of the original French Bulldog, most owners take these dogs when going out for the day, or on vacation. For, often the dog becomes more of a family member than a pet over time.

Over the years, these little dogs have become quite popular around the world. Now rating as the 6th most popular dog in the U. S., 4th in the U. K. And 3rd in Australia as of 2017. As such, it is clear to see that the popularity of the French version has continued to grow over time.

These smaller versions of the bulldog are direct descendants from the British Molossian breed which were bred into Mastiffs throughout ancient time. After which, the Bullenbeisser, a type of dog for baiting bulls and dog fighting along with pit bulls and others were then introduced as a sub-family to the breed.

Whether descended from a French Bull Dog or Mastiff, these dogs all have a purpose. For some, it is to accompany an owner to a dog show to win Best In Show. For others, it is for companionship throughout the life of the dog. And, then there are those using the dogs in bull-baiting and dog fighting circles even though these activities are now against the law throughout most of the world.

Once the size had been reduced to sixteen to twenty-five pounds, the pups became household pets and show dogs. The ones performing in dog shows often weighed only twelve pounds as there were specific measures to make those smaller than the household pet that people know, love and own today.
