What You May Not Know About Blue French Bulldog Puppies

By Edward Williams

Skin color is what makes these puppies different. The blue skin color is thought to be caused a condition called alopecia but its due to genetics. The breeder associations are wary of this breed because they may not be the healthiest of animals. The breed is not bought to display in shows. However, the fact that they are cute, affectionate little dogs is what makes Blue French Bulldog puppies desirable.

When it comes to temperament, dogs of this breed do not make good watchdogs. Despite their masculine build, they are needy, breathe loudly, have a few strange habits and get sick more often than some other dogs. They are also small, love to be at home, and very affectionate making them the best of companions. The cuteness of the breed means they draw plenty of attention.

This breed is particularly vulnerable to allergies, especially skin allergies. They will often get rashes and puffy eyes. They can also be allergic to certain foods and do better on a diet with fewer, ingredients that are organic. Their curved, short spines are also subject to injuries and jumping off couches may be enough to make a visit to the vet necessary.

Puppies of this breed prefer to stay clean and so you will not have to bathe them too often. The flat face of the breed does mean that they have difficulty breathing and make quite a noise when doing so. The owners have to become accustomed to some heavy breathing and snorting.

While the name conjures up images of this breed being French in origin, they actually come from Nottingham in England. They were most popular in England at a time when lace makers used to value them as lap dogs.

This type of dog is not very active and does not need to do much. They do not become overweight and do not eat too much. Their favorite activity is sitting on a lap or relaxing next to the owner. They are perfectly happy doing nothing more than going for a short walk once in a while.

The fact that they do not have thick coats means that they become cold very quickly and this may be one reason why they prefer staying inside. They love the warmth of snuggling in a blanket or lying close to a human being and drawing from their warmth. Many owners dress them up warmly in a jacket, especially when they take them outdoors.

Some other breeds of dogs love swimming but these dogs have a dislike of water. This is probably because they have such short legs, making it hard to swim. Owners with a pool or who live near bodies of water need to remember this. It is not that easy to find puppies because there are not that many breeders and this is why they may come at a high price.
