Home Remedy Allergy Relief For Dogs

By Henry Hamilton

It is very easy to identify a dog that is experiencing allergic reactions. It scoots or scratches across the floor and will be leaking obsessively. Like human beings, it sneezes and evidently itches. Some allergic reactions are as a result of seasonal allergens. Finding allergy relief for dogs does not have to include expensive visits to vets or complicated procedures. There are excellent home remedies that you can use.

The areas that mainly react to allergens are paws, face and eyes. They usually show redness that worsens with scratching. When paws are affected, they turn red as well. Allergies should be treated as soon as possible to prevent bacterial infections. Dog breeds that are heavily affected include beagles, Irish setters, shepherds, bulldogs, Dalmatians, retrievers, boxers and terriers. This is as a result of their genetics.

It is advisable that you visit a vet to confirm the allergy. This is not a prohibition against going for home remedies. Home remedies are cost effective and do not endanger the lives of your pet. The use of vitamin E to sooth the skin is a widely known secret. The oil may be rubbed on the irritated area directly or mixed with water that is used for bathing. Depending on the age and breed of your dog, the vet may prescribe a pill.

Flavorless electrolyte liquids are common sportsmen and pediatric drinks. They help in rehydrating and replenishing the body. They have a similar effect on your pet and will come as great relief. To ensure that you give the right dosage, consult your vet.

Yogurt is known for its antibacterial properties. It helps to deal with intestinal infections by ensuring proper balance. It has also been proven to keep away yeast infections. An alternative is to administer acidophilus pills wrapped in bacon. This remedy is highly beneficial to puppies because it boosts their immunity which is usually fragile.

Chamomile has natural healing properties that human beings have been tapping into for years. It treats anxiety, colic and gas. When applied on an irritated skin, it provides immediate relief. You can also place a tea bag on the eyes of an irritated dog besides spraying or using warm treated water to bath the pet.

The effectiveness of oatmeal has been documented for years. It is ground fine and applied directly on the irritated area. You may also mix it with bathing water and stir it. The dog will appreciate soaking in that water especially when it is warm. Oatmeal has been proven to provide relief from a range of diseases and infections. This keeps the pet away from your furniture and other surfaces it uses to scratch on.

Fleas also cause irritation and allergic reactions which means that preventing them will provide an effective solution. Borax powder effectively deals with such pests. The powder does not harm human beings and is inexpensive to use. Citrus is also effective in repelling fleas and leaves them smelling fresh. These home remedies keep your dog healthy without having to wait for the infection or seasonal weather induced irritation.
