Night shifts are necessary, especially if there are many things to settle overnight. Rather than having sugary or refined foods on your daily menu, replace them with fruits and vegetables or foods with proteins instead. You should also have some snacks too. More importantly, be sure to stay well hydrated.

Visit the doctor on a regular basis. As some alarming health issues happen, one thing to keep in mind is to consult doctors. Or, schedule a routine check up with reliable and competent one to become well aware on what specific things could be performed during the shift. It is wise to remain well informed and updated with health to mitigate risks of complications.

Do a variety of good things overnight. In other words, keep yourself busy at all night. Although you have the same job as with the morning shifters, this does not mean you cannot read books or enjoy a game of puzzle. As long as you keep your brain occupied with some activities, chances are it is unlikely to easily fall asleep and get tired in the long run.

Sometimes, the light is more essential. In order to keep awake and perform your duties properly, keeping the lights on at the station can make a difference. Since dim lights can keep most residents and patients fall asleep, doing the opposite can somehow fool your brain. But you may want to place on sunglasses to avoid affecting your eyesight during the day.

Have a chat with people, especially with colleagues to get to know them. When foods and games might not suffice, start conversation with people. Aside from having stronger ties, there is chance to build better friendship that could last for long. Listen to what they suggest and share some stories too.
