By Trium Glaters

It's a question dog owners ask often: are dogs allowed to eat cake? It's something asked a lot from dog owners because of a multitude of reasons: they're holding a birthday party for their dogs, they're giving them the cakes as treats and also other reasons. While they see no harm in giving it to them, some dog owners still want an assurance it's allowed. After all, chocolate is harmful to dogs if consumed in high quantity. Can the same apply to cakes?

So it boggles you with a question: should you buy your grandmother a cat for her birthday? Here are some reasons why you should and should not buy a cat. Research has shown time and time again that cats give health benefits to people. From lowering stress to boosting the immune stress, it is clear that cats really give benefit to its owners. So your grandmother is in safe hands with a cat. She'll definitely love having a cat as a companion.

Just like chocolate, cakes aren't that harmful if taken in small quantities. But don't get your hopes up; it's not advisable to feed them cakes all the time. Don't feed them too much cake or you'll get consequences. The most common consequence is your dog will get too fat. Because cake has an amount of fat that isn't in the normal diet of a dog, they might absorb too much of the fat and accumulate all over their body. If a dog gets too fat, their joints might not be able to support the added weight. All this because of cake? You'd better watch out. And cake contains sugar which can dissolve off a bit of their teeth.

Thanks to the cat's rodent instinct, Grandma can relax in a rodent-free home with the cat always catching rats and eating them. On lonely days, it's mostly your grandmother on her own. With a cat, your grandma has a companion to keep her company. Your grandmother might not like the cat's pee. Some cats tend to pee almost anywhere, even on the walls of house. So watch out for that. Your grandmother should watch out when she's got food flashed before a cat's eyes. Cats are good at hunting so stealing is nothing to them. One swoop and your grandmother's food is gone.

So are dogs allowed to eat cake? It depends. Remember to keep these things in mind so at least you have an idea what you're giving your dog. Your dog deserves a treat so give him what he deserves but in the safest way possible.
